Residents in all 47 counties have been advised to be on the lookout for potential floods.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rainfall is expected to continue in most parts of the country in the latest forecast by the weatherman.

Met also said the rains being experienced in some parts of the country are expected to intensify.

"Heavy rainfall being experienced over the northeast, northwest, and central highlands is expected to intensify and spread to Nairobi, the southern lowlands, the western sector, and the coast on Thursday, 2nd November," the forecast shows.

According to the forecast, heavy rains of more than 30mm in 24 hours are likely to continue between Friday 3, and Sunday 5.

The intensity is projected to reduce on Monday, November 6, over the southeastern lowlands and parts of the northeast and may be accompanied by dusty winds.

To safeguard lives and property, the forecast says it is of utmost importance that the general public exercises caution during these weather conditions.

"Residents are advised to avoid driving through or walking in moving water or open fields and not to shelter under trees and near grilled windows when it's raining to minimise exposure to lightning strikes," Kenya Met cautioned.

People were also cautioned to look out as strong winds may blow off, uproot trees, and cause structural damage.

According to the forecast, people in landslide-prone areas, especially over the slopes of the Aberdare ranges, Mt Kenya, and other hilly areas in the western region, were urged to be vigilant.
