Former EACC boss Patrick Lumumba has urged politicians and Kenyans, in general, to embrace ethics to boost the fight against corruption and impunity.

Lumumba spoke during the launch of a book titled “Ethics of Life" in Nairobi on Friday.

“We have a crisis of ethics in this country and that has affected our image. Kenyans must our culture is ethically right,” said Lumumba.

Lumumba reminded leaders that they play a key role in fighting corruption and getting rid of bad culture.

The book, 'Ethic of Life' is the latest piece of work that unravels the impact of corruption in the country.

It is authored by anti-graft crusader Joseph Okhako.

The book entails the story of a young boy ( Okhako himself) who grew up as an orphan in Western Kenya, braving the effects of corrupt practices that continuously rendered the community around him helpless.

Okhako is Chief Executive Officer at the Ethics Institute of East Africa, a body that helps the East African region fight corruption and unethical conduct in both public and private sector institutions.

In his speech, Okhako expressed the belief that corruption is the source of evil acts across the world.

“We all know that without corruption we will not have to fight against each other after every election. Corruption is the mastermind of all these problems in the world,” added Okhako.

Former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana also addressed the gathering during the launch of the book in a Nairobi hotel.

He hailed the book describing it as a template for ethics and governance in the country.

The former Governor also appealed to Kenyans to expose unethical individuals especially public leaders to ensure the war against corruption is won.

“Leaders should not be driven by pride or selfish interests. All public appointees should have integrity to ensure we end corruption in the public sector," he said.

Others who attended include educationist doctor Purity Gitonga, renowned journalist Lydia Manyasi who is now the trainer at the Ethics Institute of East Africa, Kinuthia Wamwangi chairman of Emirates Transition Authority, Samuel Kimeu executive director and CEO of Africa Voices Foundation among others.
