Environment Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya has initiated the dismissal of 23 forest officers over alleged graft following President William Ruto's order.

While addressing the media on Thursday, the CS said her ministry will not harbour sacred cows.

"Everyone will face the full force of the law. In addition to the 23 officers, we have other investigations going on on other officers as well," she said.

Tuya said the ministry has operations happening in different forest conservancies

"We have a lot of cooperation with DCI who are unearthing criminal investigations. We are here to ensure the KFS dismiss the 23 forest officers," she said

"We are here to send a strong warning to officers that there would be no sacred cows. Anybody conniving to deplete our forest will not be spared."

President William Ruto had ordered the immediate dismissal of forest managers and 23 rangers on Wednesday, during the forest rangers pass-out parade in Gilgil, Nakuru county.

The Head of State said the aforementioned have been involved in corruption.

"I have instructed the Kenya Forest Service board that all those engaged in corruption be fired and be taken to court. We have already found 23 forest managers and rangers," Ruto said.

"Those who have led to the destruction of forests be removed from the government. From tomorrow I do not want them to be in government payroll. These are people who are saboteurs."
