Political analyst Herman Manyora believes a truce between President William Ruto and Azimio leader Raila Odinga is in the offing.

Manyora said Ruto’s recent Nyanza trip could be suggestive of new beginnings for the two leaders adding that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua should be worried about the development.

Speaking during an interview with Spice FM on Tuesday, Manyora said Gachagua should be a worried man.

He further said Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, a co-principal in Azimio La Umoja- One Kenya Alliance, should also be a worried man.

"Rigathi Gachagua and Kalonzo Musyoka should be very afraid, they are on the outside. There is a deal between Raila and Ruto. Looking at the Nyanza tour, what plays out confirms some things people have been feeling, that Raila and Ruto have a deal,” he stated.

Ruto completed his 4-day development tour of the Nyanza Region on Monday.

The President’s tour focused on the development of infrastructure aimed at stimulating the region’s economic growth.

Ruto noted that the Nyanza region will play a leading role in the advancement of the Bottom-Up Transformation Agenda.

“That kind of thing that played out could not easily have played out if Raila had not given his note. Something has taken place and I have no doubt that the casualties will be Kalonzo Musyoka and Rigathi Gachagua,” Manyora remarked.

On Sunday, Gachagua announced his mission to rally support for Ruto in the influential Mt Kenya region in 2027.

Gachagua vowed to ensure he gives Ruto 100 per cent votes from Mt Kenya during the 2027 general election.

Recent statements by Ruto and Gachagua have revealed that the two are not reading from the same script when it comes to inclusiveness in government.

However, the DP has said before that they are still intact dispelling speculations pointing to strained relations.

"President William Ruto and I are joined at the hip. We talk daily. My relationship with the President is top-notch," Gachagua said.

While the President is keen to make new allies in the Nyanza region, promising residents that they will not be left out, Gachagua has maintained that plum government jobs remain the preserve of those who supported the Kenya Kwanza candidates.

While this may be perceived as divisive, Gachagua says he doesn’t believe Nyanza will support Ruto.
