Two women arrested over the weekend while attempting to steal a child aged one year in Kawangware will be arraigned today to face human trafficking charges.

Detectives are however expected to make a miscellaneous application in which they will seek to detain the duo for more days pending the conclusion of investigations.

The two were arrested on Saturday after after a good Samaritan saw one of his neighbour's children with one of them and upon asking her she looked suspicious and they both failed to satisfactorily explain how they got hold of the child.

He immediately notified other passengers who helped in arresting them.

Upon reaching the police station, it was realized that they were trafficking the child to a ready buyer who was waiting in the Nairobi Central Business District

Their case is coming up before Kibera senior principal magistrate Electina Rihani.

Only last week, a Nairobi court jailed two former workers at the Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital after they were convicted of child theft and trafficking.
