(I have now gone back to wearing suits and I was used to wearing vitenge and jeans which I really enjoyed. Everything has a season)

Suits are considered official wear in the corporate world but most government officials prefer them to casual wear.

Mwaura's immediate predecessor Cyrus Oguna had on many occasions addressed the nation while in suits.

Following his appointment as government spokesperson on Wednesday, the former Nominated Senator made his first address on Thursday to the nation in the company of Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.

"I will resume the weekly briefings in a bigger way soon. Access to information is a right under article 35 of the Constitution," he said.

Mwaura added that he was happy to have been considered to serve in the position.

"I'm extremely grateful to God for the opportunity to be the fifth spokesman under the fifth President...I thank President William Ruto and his deputy for having found it fit to have me as the official government spokesman," he said.

"Glory be to God! He is indeed so very faithful to those who wait upon Him. What God has kept for you he will surely make it come to pass no matter how long," Mwaura said via a statement on X, formerly Twitter.

Mwaura will be deputised by renowned TV journalist Mwanaisha Chidzunga and Gabriel Muthuma.

The former MP was among 50 Chief Administrative Secretaries (CAS) appointed by Ruto in the office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

The Court, however, declared appointment unconstitutional.

Chidzuga on the other hand is a veteran journalist who has worked for several media houses in the country.

Gabriel Mutuma is a renowned political commentator.
