Police are investigating the cause of death of a man whose decomposed body was found in his house in Kabete area, Nairobi.

The man was identified as Martin Kaniaru, 41.

He had not been seen for at least three days before the decomposed body was found in his house on Thursday, October 5 evening, police said.

Neighbours of a house where the deceased lived along Ndwaru Road said they were disturbed by a foul smell that emanated from there.

This forced them to call the police and break into the house where the body was discovered.

Police said they found the body with no visible injuries and that an investigation is ongoing.

The body was moved to the mortuary ahead of a planned autopsy.

In the Mau Summit area, Nakuru, police said they are investigating the death of 30-year-old Benson Kirumba whose body was found in his house.

The incident happened in Mlima village.

Police said the body was partially decomposed when they arrived there to pick up the body from the grass-thatched house.

The man lived alone and it is not yet clear what caused his death. The body was moved to the mortuary.

In Muranga, a 21-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly aborting her seven-month-old foetus and disposing of the same in their room.

Tenants at the houses said they were disturbed by a foul smell from the house when they decided to check where they found the decomposing remains of the foetus.

The woman suspected to be the mother of the foetus was arrested alongside her mother.

Police said they are investigating the incident and that the mother was taken to the hospital for checks.

Police are also investigating an incident in which a 36-year-old man died by suicide at a salon washroom in Mlolongo area, Machakos County.

Police said the body of Josephat Mulinge was found dangling from the roof of the washroom long after he had died.

Police who visited the scene said they established that the deceased had gained entry into the salon by cutting window grills using a hacksaw, which was found at the scene.

A suicide note was recovered and addressed to the wife, police said without elaborating on the details of the same.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
