President William Ruto has officially welcomed Africa Climate Summit delegates to Kenya.

Speaking during the opening ceremony of the Climate Summit, the head of state said humanity began in Kenya as human fossils are found in the country.

“I want to officially welcome you home. Kenya is where humanity began. A few kilometres from where you are seated, there are human fossils,” he said.

Ruto also said Kenya is working on ensuring all many countries will access the nation visa-free, as it is home.

The President is hosting the summit in his capacity as the coordinator of all African heads of state on climate change within the African Union (AU).

“The summit is co-convened by Kenya and the AU and this being an African summit it is global. We have invitations from across the World because the main thing that we are proposing is global climate action solutions,” he said.

Ruto is addressing hundreds of delegates at the Kenya International Conference Center.
