The Government has assured Kenyans it is focused on implementing its agenda, insisting that the weekly demonstrations by the Azimio la Umoja are uncalled for.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has said the government’s plan is on course and nothing will distract President William Ruto’s eye from the ball.

He was speaking at Mbale town, his Vihiga home turf, where he accompanied President William Ruto, in commissioning the Vihiga Cluster Water Supply Project at Lunyerere, Sabatia Constituency.

“You the people of Western Kenya told me you wanted to be part of the government. After a critical look at the unfolding situation then, I made a decision to join hands with President Ruto and here we are in government," said Mudavadi.

“I usually ask myself, if I could not have made that bold decision, right now I could be part of those people putting sufurias on their heads.”

He urged the people of Western Kenya not to fall into the trap of joining the opposition protests saying they are aimed at distracting the government from implementing its policies that will change the fortunes of Kenyans.

Mudavadi said the Azimio protests portray people who do not respect the constitution and the rule of law.

“When I brought the earthquake, my friends thought it was a joke. We joined hands and defeated them on the ballot. They went to court and lost their bargain. We are almost heading to one year since the last general elections and these people do not want to accept and embrace the reality that Ruto is the President," said Mudavadi.

“Nobody is above the law. Raila should know that it is his duty to respect a duly elected regime. This government was democratically elected and it is time the opposition accepts and closes ranks, we move on.”

He commended President Ruto for walking the talk and steadily implementing the projects he promised Kenyans.

The leaders who had earlier commissioned the Vihiga Water Supply Project before holding a rally at Mbale town, categorically affirmed that they are working on modalities to ensure that the cost of living comes down.

“We are soon expecting a bumper harvest. Unga will definitely come down. We are also exploring other avenues to ensure that basic commodities are affordable as well as trying to fix areas that will ensure the cost of fuel comes down,” said Mudavadi.

“We as Kenya Kwanza have submitted all the funds to county governments and CDF. Azimio does not want to tell Kenyans such news. What they are focusing on are blackmail and economic sabotage.”

The President on his part acknowledged the government’s commitment to boost the education standards in the country saying they have hired 55,000 additional teachers to boost the education sector.

He affirmed that the reduced prices for fertilizer are a clear indication that agriculture will be boosted as part of the measures to help in reducing the cost of living.

He said demonstrations will not help put food on the table urging Kenyans to remain focused.

“The people who are inciting Kenyans to go for protests are the enemies of democracy and peace. Why can’t they be at the forefront together with their families in those demonstrations?” posed Ruto.

The President promised the people of Vihiga and Western Kenya more goodies moving forward urging them to support the government’s policies and directives.
