President William Ruto was reminiscent that at some point in his political career, he also received a letter from the ODM disciplinary committee when he was a member.

Ruto said he received the letter when he was the Deputy party leader of ODM.

The Head of State spoke on Saturday during the homecoming ceremony of Interior PS Raymond Omollo.

"I was the Deputy party leader in ODM and at some point, I also received a letter from the party's disciplinary committee. And if you see that you have received such a letter from ODM, that is when you know you are on the right path," he said.

Ruto went on to add that he ended up battling ODM in court for five years till he became the Deputy President in 2013.

He said the party was attempting to oust him thus a court battle ensued.

He told the MPs who have been branded as rebels that one's political career starts flourishing once they are summoned by the ODM party disciplinary committee.

"If you haven't received that letter you have a long way to go," he said.

He urged the MPs to relax, adding that their tribulation is part of the leadership journey.

Among the ODM rebel MPs who were present at the event was Lang'ata MP Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang'o who had pleaded with Ruto to come to his rescue as he is set to appear before the ODM disciplinary committee on Wednesday.

Jalang'o said his biggest crime as he appears before the committee is that he is a friend to the President.

"I know you are a friend to Baba (Raila Odinga) and you guys talk. Please talk to him because looking at others who are facing similar charges are the likes of Ojienda, who happens to be a lawyer. Jamani wasinimalize kama uko," he said.

Other ODM rebel MPs present were Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem) Mark Nyamita (Uriri), Paul Abuor (Rongo) and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda.
