KDF, security agencies plant 3,000 trees ahead of Madaraka day

The exercise is in keeping with President Ruto's vision of a sustainable greener future.

The Kenya Defence Forces with other Security agencies on Tuesday planted 3,000 trees ahead of Madaraka day celebrations in Embu County. 

The exercise facilitated by the Embu County Government saw other agencies; the National Police Service, Kenya Coast Guard Services, Kenya Wildlife Service, Kenya Forestry Service, National Youth Service, and the Embu County Law Enforcement Units take part. 

Through a statement, KDF said the exercise is a way of giving back to the local community and also in keeping with the presidential vision of a sustainable greener future.

Embu county governor Cecily Mbarire thanked the security agencies for their support as her county prepares for the upcoming celebrations.

“I am very happy to be hosting you all here this year and I’m impressed with how you have conducted and carried yourselves in your line of duty," she said.

"I would encourage and advocate for more women to venture into the disciplined forces and work their way through the ranks and attain those higher leadership levels.'' 

Commander 4th Brigade, Brigadier Jattani Gula lauded the tree-planting exercise, saying the exercise is critical for environmental conservation.
