A Nairobi woman collapsed and died while praying at a church. 

Police said the church pastor reported they were in the church when the middle-aged woman collapsed.

She was rushed to Mbagathi Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said they are yet to know the cause of the death.

“An autopsy will be conducted on the body after we identify her. This will help in the probe at large,” he said.

Suspected drowning  

Police are investigating the suspected drowning of a boy aged six in Nairobi River.

The body was recovered in Mwiki on May 14 evening by residents who suspected he was swept downstream.

Police said the deceased was still in a school uniform at the time the body was found.

Defilement claims 

A police officer was arrested over claims of defilement of a girl at the Kapenguria police station in West Pokot.

A 15-year-old who was in need of care and protection said the officer defiled her on May 15, 2023, at about 11 pm.

This happened on the floor of the station's dining room, she told police.

The girl was taken to the station by children officers from home on May 9 for care and protection.

The girl said the officer called her from the cells and forcefully led her to the dining section of the facility and defiled her on a police jacket.

Body found floating 

A body of a man was found floating in the Nairobi River in the Chokaa area.

He is believed to have drowned elsewhere and swept downstream to where his body was recovered on May 18 at about 7 pm, police said.

Police said the body was still in fresh condition with no visible injuries at the time it was retrieved from the water.

Such incidents have been on the rise amid calls to address the trend.

Robbery 

Police are looking for a gang that shot and injured a man before robbing him of Sh450,000 in Thika town, Kiambu.

Benson Mburu was shot in the stomach by a gunman who confronted him Saturday, May 13, moments after he had received the cash from another man who was buying his car, police said.

Mburu was selling the salon car and had identified a buyer with whom they agreed to exchange the money in town.

Terror attacks 

At least two police officers were injured when they were ambushed by gunmen believed to be al-Shabaab militants in Rhamu, Mandera County.

The incident happened Saturday, May 13 when the gunmen ambushed two vehicles that were carrying 25 General Service Units along Rhamu-Elwak road.

The team was heading to Mandera from Nairobi when they were attacked by suspected al-Shabaab militants at around 4 am at Isaqora area, police said.

Death from 15th floor 

Police are investigating yet another incident in which a 30-year-old man died after he fell from the fifteenth floor of a building in California, Nairobi.

Shandrack Oyier, 30, slid and fell off while laying tiles on the floor of the house on Sunday evening, police said.

According to police, the man slid off an opening, which was unsecured and suffered fractured limbs, legs, and ribs.
