CJ Koome to admit 826 lawyers to the bar in June

A formal invite has been emailed to each candidate ahead of admission.

Chief Justice Martha Koome is expected to admit 826 lawyers to the bar on June 6, 2023, 

 

The event will be held at Supreme Court Grounds.

According to the office of the Chief Registrar, the lawyers have received a formal invite for admission.

Admission to the bar is a process that marks the transition from learning to practising law.

To be admitted, one must undertake the advocates training programme, a postgraduate diploma in law.

A postgraduate diploma in law can only be offered by the Kenya School of Law.

In March this year, Koome admitted 466 lawyers to the Roll of Advocates.

In 2019, 36 percent of the students passed the test while in 2018 only 18 percent of the students that sat the exam passed.
