Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has blasted those critising the Kikuyu dominance in civil service saying the community expects more appointments.

The DP, who spoke during the burial of Mama Mukami Kimathi in Nyandarua on Saturday, said the appointments being made in government reflect the community's population.

''We made a conscious decision to vote for you[Ruto] to run the affairs of this country, and it cannot be that when a few Kikuyus are appointed into government, they start complaining,'' he said.

A furious DP said while the critics are only looking at the civil service, they have given a blind eye to the reality that Kikuyus have also dominated the prisons.

''We are the majority in the prions, why haven't they asked that we be let free from the prisons....your excellency, those you have appointed continue with more appointments,''he said.

The straight-talking DP also asked the President to continue with more appointments for the region, saying they made a big sacrifice by voting for the government.

''He [Ruto] has analysed and realised that in this region there are men and woman who can assist him government and we are in government by choice..and the president has not done any mistake by asking us to come and work with him...our votes are many as well.''
