Information Communication and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary  Eliud Owalo has asked Siaya residents to humble themselves and entice the government to deliver development in their backyard.

"Development does not thrive where there is noise. If we want development then we must humble ourselves," he said.

The CS said it is time they woke up from their stupor and realized that there is a government already in place.

Siaya and Luo Nyanza voted for opposition leader Raila Odinga nearly to the last man in the August 2022 presidential poll and have since declared the current government as illegitimate.

Owalo spoke at Ambira High School in Ugunja where he led in the distribution of relief food.

He used the opportunity to ask the people of Siaya to join the ruling party, the United Democratic Alliance, and prepare to vote for President William Ruto in 2027.

"Let nobody lie to you that you will remove President Ruto from State House and that there will be an election before 2027. The government is one and you should prepare and give it a second five-year-term in 2027," Owalo said on Monday.

Ugunja politician Oyugi Dor said that UDA is also targeting to register 300,000 people in Siaya as members.

"We will start by netting the over 160,000 people ho voted for the United Democratic Movement in the last election," Dor said.

"We are on with the registration for UDA membership but we are not forcing anyone to become a member. It should be an individual's decision."

He said government resources are never enough and whoever comes first gets it.

"In future, we will want you to carry your UDA card because resources are few," he said.

Dor said that so far he has managed to register 1,000 people from Ugunja constituency into UDA.

Owalo and the team proceeded with the relief food distribution to Dibuoro Primary School in Usonga and Pala Primary School in Bondo.
