Shioso hands over to Nyale as he exits Kiganjo police college

Bruno Shioso was named the Director General of the Kenya Coast Guard Service.

Former Director of Operations at the police headquarters Munga Nyale has officially assumed his new role as Kiganjo National Police College -Main Campus Commandant.

Munga, whose appointment took effect April 12, replaces Bruno Shioso who has been named the Director General of the Kenya Coast Guard Service.

 

Shioso handed over in a brief ceremony held Saturday at the college in Kiganjo, Nyeri.

Nyale and Bruno are both career detectives.

Nyale formerly served as the Commandant Anti-Terrorist Police Unit and Head of the Flying Squad under the DCI.

Nyale's appointment comes days after he was named the new director of operations at the Kenya Police headquarters, Nairobi.

Prior to the April 1, appointment, he was the director of reforms at police headquarters.

He was swapped with Boniface Maingi in the changes announced by Koome, then. 

Shioso was appointed in November 2022 to head the institution Shioso taking over from Japhet Koome who was picked as the Inspector General.

Prior to that, he was the National Police Service spokesperson.

He takes over from Brigadier Vincent Naisho Loonena.

He will be responsible for enforcing maritime security, patrolling Kenya's territorial waters, preventing unlawful fishing, piracy, human and drug trafficking, smuggling and preventing environmental damage.
