[PHOTOS] Police barricade access roads leading to State House

Security has been heightened in all access routes to Statehouse in Nairobi.

A spot check by the Star on Monday shows a heavy deployment of armed GSU officers and from anti-riot police.

Water cannons and police trucks have also been strategically parked at all main entry points.

Some of the major routes that security officers have also barricaded are Arboretum Road and processional way.

The movement of persons along the routes has also been restricted.

He added that if delegates are allowed to enter, they will deliver the message. However, if not, they will leave it at the door.

"We will send a few people to State House to deliver our message, not a crowd, only a few people will deliver the petition I am not even sure whether I will be among them," Raila said in a joint media interview

He affirmed that the planned protests will commence on the same day and continue throughout the year.

"Hapa hamuwezi pita labda mzunguke hiyo barabara ingine huko,' said a mean looking officer.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga is today expected to lead his supporters in a major demonstration in the City.

Police have declared the planned demonstration illegal warning protesters against any attempt to access.Raila told his supporters Sunday to converge at the Central Business District before the start of the mass protests.

"I'm calling on all Kenyans of goodwill to wake up very early in the morning and gather at the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD)," Raila said.

However, Odinga said that there won't be a mass protest to State House as anticipated by his supporters.Instead, he stated that Azimio will send a delegation to deliver their message to President William Ruto at State House while protests continue in Nairobi's Central Business District (CBD).
