Residents in Githurai on Monday went on with their business activities as other subcounties engaged in protests.

The residents said that they will not engage in mass action because they are busy working to feed their families.

However, traders decried slow business compared to other days.

Azimio protesters thronged KICC and other roads in the city for demonstrations called for by the opposition.

A spot check by the Star found a handful of youths walking along the now deserted road, just like many other city roads.

In Kisumu Central Business District businesses remained closed with minimal activity as police engaged protesters in running battles while arresting others.

On Saturday, opposition chief Raila Odinga in an interview said they would peacefully march to State House to present their petitions to President William Ruto.

He, however, clarified that only a few individuals will walk into the State House if allowed.

"We will hand over our petition to the President wherever he will be, but peacefully… If he will be at State House, only two or three people will walk into State House to go and present the petition," he said.
