Kajiado South MP Parashina Sakimba says he will shave his hair once he ensures all his constituents get enough food.

“Shaving my hair is a luxury, why would I spend money on luxurious things when my people are hungry?” the MP asked.

The MP was speaking on Saturday when he presided over a thanksgiving ceremony at Kimana Girls Secondary School in Loitokitok.

Sakimba said the current drought in the county has devastated the lives of pastoralists who have lost all their livestock.

“People in their villages are staring at death, they have no food, no water. The situation is really dire. As the area MP, I cannot sleep because of the cries of my people,” said the MP.

He thanked the entire school administration, teachers, parents and students for showing a sterling performance in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (2022).

The school changed its examination results from the usual 3.6 mean grade to a mean grade of 6.4 and became the most improved school in the 2022 KCSE in the entire county.

The MP thanked the new school’s senior principal Catherine Mwaniki for steering the school to success.

For the first time in the history of the school, 21 students scored a “B”, while 43 others scored a “C+”.

Following the sterling performance, the MP donated one bull to be slaughtered for the students.

Sakimba announced that all the secondary school students in the constituency will receive bursaries.

“I have set aside Sh25 million for secondary school bursaries in Kajiado South and another Sh15 million for our students in universities and tertiary colleges,” said Sakimba.

He also promised to pay full school fees for five orphaned girls at Kimana Girls until they complete their studies at the school.
