A 62-year-old woman died after a fire burnt down her house in Kimahuri, Naromoru, Nyeri couny.

Police said Jane Wanjiku Mureithi was in her house on Tuesday when the fire broke out killing her.

Police suspect an electrical fault as the cause of the fire but investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Police said the remains were taken to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Elsewhere in Lungalunga slums, in Nairobi, two children aged 14 and 11 were injured in an electrocution incident.

Police said the two were playing on the rooftop of their school when they touched live naked wire on Tuesday evening.

According to witnesses the children were at the Brilliant Sharpening Community primary school in the slum when the incident happened.

One if the victims sustained burns in the forehead, hands lags and stomach while the second one had burns on the face, hands and legs.

Both victims were rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital and admitted in stable condition.

A team of police officers was sent to the scene for inspection as part of the probe into the incident.

Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said they are investigating the incident and promised action later on.

He blamed such incidents on poor wiring and illegal power connections but urged for patience for probe to be conducted.
