23,044 job seekers applied for 293 vacant positions in Bomet

Of the total applicants, 233 were holders of PhDs.

Unemployment rate in the country continues to rise as Bomet recorded 23,044 applicants for 293 vacant positions. 

On January 25 this year, the Bomet County Public Service Board advertised 293 vacant positions in various county departments. 

The applications for the various positions closed on February 14, 2023.

The Public Service Board CEO Peter Kiprono Bii said following the call for applications for the vacant positions," the Board received a total of 23,044 applications comprising 13,593 males and 9,451 females. This is also inclusive of 311 People Living with Disabilities."

Bii noted that the highest number of applicants were degree holders with 15,432 applicants. 

Followed by those with diplomas at 5584 applicants. 

Of the total applicants 233, were holders of PhDs. 

Those with higher diplomas recorded the lowest number of applicants at 179. 

Bii thanked all the applicants for expressing their interest to work with the County Government of Bomet.

"Processing of the applications is underway and the shortlist for interviews will be released in due course," Bii said. 

He further warned that the board does not solicit payments or recruit staff through agents or agencies.

"Any person purporting to undertake the recruitment exercise for a fee and or on behalf of the Board is a fraudster and should be reported to the nearest police station," Bii said.
