AUEOM officials will engage different stakeholders as well as observe and provide an accurate and impartial assessment of the electoral process in Africa’s most populous country

AU commission chairperson Moussa Faki, in a letter to Uhuru dated January 9, said they picked him because he has a solid commitment to democracy and peace in Africa.

“While in Abuja, you will hold consultations with the political leadership of the country and electoral stakeholders in a bid to promote a credible, transparent and peaceful electoral process before, during and after the elections,” Faki said.

Uhuru’s expenses while in Nigeria will be covered by the AU Commission.
