Magoha was a turbo engine, wanted things done - Matiang'i

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has eulogised George Magoha as a committed colleague, who could charge the room.

"My colleagues can bare me, witness, he was a turbo engine, he was the one who supplied the energy, he wanted things to be done, he was always vibrant," he said. 

Matiang'i said the former Education CS did all his work diligently and lived his life fully. 

"He was driven by delivery and ensuring work was done, he had no time for pettiness and small talks," he said. 

"I had an enjoyable time working with Prof Magoha, we worked together well."

He was speaking at Magoha's Lavington home when former Cabinet secretaries accompanied retired President Uhuru Kenyatta to condole with the family. 

Magoha died on January 24 at the age of 71 after a long and illustrious career in medicine, academia and public service.

He collapsed at home and was rushed to the Nairobi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead after efforts to resuscitate him failed.

Magoha will be buried on February 11 at his rural home in Siaya county.
