Junior secondary students to report January 30

Machogu said over 13,000 schools have met the Ministry of Education requirements

Education CS Ezekiel Machogu has said Junior Secondary students will report on January 30. 

Machogu said 14,000 public schools have been assessed and more than 13,000 met the qualification of the Junior Secondary school host. 

The CS spoke on Monday during the Form 1 selection exercise at KICD, Nairobi.

"So far, more than 13,000 schools have met the Ministry of Education requirements for Junior secondary schools," he said. 

Machogu further said the Kenya Kwanza administration will pay Sh15,000 for every learner in primary school. 

"The government has set aside Sh9.6 billion for the learners and will pay Sh15,000 for each student," he said.

The students will also have different uniforms from the rest.

Machogu said head of schools will come up with new colors for the learners. 

He however, said parents will cater for the uniforms.

"The Grade 7 learners will have different uniforms, which the heads of schools will come up with and parents will cater for," the  CS said. 

On December 1, 2022 the CBC task force recommended that Junior Secondary learners be domiciled in existing primary schools.
