Diaspora Affairs PS Roseline Njogu has asked Kenyan domestic workers in Saudi Arabia who are in distress to reach out to Sakan centers near them for help.

Njogu said that the best way to help domestic workers in the Gulf country is to direct them to the right place rather than have them flood her social media accounts with messages.

“Instead of flooding my DM, this is a fast, safe and free service,” she said.

“Calling all activists, Kenyans of goodwill and keyboard warriors to kindly direct domestic workers in distress in KSA (Saudi Arabia) to go to a Sakan center near them,” the PS added.

Njogu said that domestic workers who are out of status or who abandon their contracts often fall prey to 'dalalas' who traffic them to work illegally in other households.

“Then they are taken advantage of and mistreated as we have seen on social media,” she said.

The PS advised domestic workers that it is hard to protect them whenever they enter into the black market.

"If you are a domestic worker and you get in trouble with your employer in Saudi Arabia, call 19911 or call the Embassy at +966 500755060"

"You can also send an email to [email protected] or go to the Kenyan Embassy in Riyadh or to a Sakan near you,” she concluded.
