Ruto allied MCAs walk out on Sakaja’s CCO nominee during vetting

An unexpected happened on Thursday when Kenya Kwanza Nairobi MCAs walkout on Governor Johnson Sakaja’s ICT and Energy county chief officer nominee during vetting.

Minority leader Antony Kiragu said theUDA allied side of the House will not take part in an illegality.

He revealed that the nominee, Ogutu Okudo as of December 21, 2022 had not submitted the required papers as announced by the clerk.

“As Kenya Kwanza we cannot participate in an illegality as the nominee has not submitted papers,” Kiragu said.

Explaining why the UDA side walked out, minority leader said that they questioned the nominee’s morals and her credibility.

“We all saw what went down at the Bomas of Kenya during elections. How can we take part in vetting such a person?” Kiragu asked.

Minority whip Mark Mugambi further claimed that the nominee also has a pending investigation regarding what transpired at the Bomas of Kenya in August.

“ We cannot have a chief officer who has sticky fingers. What she did is in the public domain and we don’t understand why our counterparts have proceeded with the vetting,” he said.

Ogutu is among the 33 county chief officers picked by Sakaja who were vetted by the Nairobi assembly on Thursday.

They appeared before the respective assembly committees where they were asked questions regarding their respective areas.
