Most people don't know that my brother died twice, Adil Khan brother to rally driver Asad Khan said.

Adil said when got to the hospital he was told that Asad was brought to the hospital by strangers.

He said a nurse called him and told him straightaway that Asad had a cardiac arrest.

Adil said the nurse however, said Asad was on a machine and doctors were attempting to revive him.

"They brought him back. They did not know why he had the cardiac arrest. He had no blood and there was none leaking from the cut on his leg," he said.

Adil said as soon as they started the transfusion, Asad's leg started oozing again.

"During that process again he had another cardiac arrest, the second time. Again, they revived him as the blood was going in," he said.

Adil said doctors said they had no A+ blood in Nairobi Hospital. It was at this point that Asad was transferred to Avenue Hospital.

The family had made a blood appeal following his admission.

At Avenue hospital Asad was said to have a punctured lung on the right side.

"I had not seen my brother at close range. He was beaten on his head on top of his eye. He also had scratch marks on top of his head and on his neck," he said.

Adil said the doctors demanded a letter of consent to drain fluid from Asad's chest, suspected to have been caused by a puncture to his right lung.

Adil did not want to but was forced by circumstances.

"The procedure started but then they found out his liver, kidney and pancreas had failed," he said.

The rally driver passed away on Sunday.

The family confirmed he died at Avenue Hospital, where he has been undergoing treatment.

Asad had been in hospital for almost a week following injuries sustained from an altercation with his girlfriend Maxine Wahome at their Kileleshwa home.

Wahome is also a rally driver.
