Kakamega Airstrip received its first-ever aeroplane on Wednesday.

Governor Fernandes Barasa on Monday said he will be at the airstrip to receive the maiden flight from Nairobi.

“I will officiate the first commercial flight courtesy of the President’s recent tour, tomorrow. The facility will open up Western Kenya to visitors,” the governor said in his Jamhuri Day address at Bukhungu Stadium.

The Kakamega airstrip was commissioned by President William Ruto on Thursday last week.
