In his statement, Kimaiyo demanded the details of the persons and organisations involved.

He insisted on the provision of the status of compensation indicating the time upon receiving the compensation.

He also wanted the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs to state whether there are plans to revive Fluorspar mining in the area.

The matter was referred to the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Mining.

The Fluorspar Mining Company Limited was announced to be under the government in 2018.

A task force would see out the compensation of over 4,000 landowners who were displaced to make way for the company's mining activities in the 1970s.

However, disputes among residents over the mode of compensation mainly caused the crumbling of the payment.

This is because some beneficiaries were seeking alternative land while others were demanding money.

Others had disagreements with state officials over the amount owed thus delaying the already delayed process.
