Governor Barasa calls for return to twinning program at KCA University

Barasa said the program helped students create meaningful international networks.

Kakamega County Governor Fernandes Barasa now wants KCA University management to reinstate a twinning program for students.

Barasa who is among the university founders said the program helped students create meaningful international networks. 

The governor was speaking during the KCA University Founders Luncheon at the main campus.

"There value in universities having twinning arrangements so that we expose our students to international linkages," Barasa said.

The Kakamega County boss who also served as the 21st Chairperson of ICPAK between 2016 and 2017 championed for the said program.

KCA University would partner with institutions of higher learning in the United States of America, specifically targeting areas of Research and Public Finance Management.

"The main aim was to make KCA University a center of excellence in accountancy in Kenya," he said.

Barasa said if this program is revived then the institution will achieve its core mandate of excellence in academics.

"In order to position KCA University as the capital reference of experts in Financial Management and the cradle of best researchers in Kenya and Africa at large," he added.

Barasa also committed to work with the university management to have a KCA campus in Kakamega county.

"As you know Kakamega being the hub of western region we definitely need KCA university in Kakamega," he said.
