Let's have dialogue, Uhuru says on DRC conflict

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged the parties involved in the Democratic Republic of Congo to have a dialogue. 

Speaking during his peace process visit in Eastern DRC, Uhuru said the war should stop before a dialogue is brought to the table.

"Let's stop the war so that we can have a dialogue, we cannot start talking before the war ends," he said. 

He also said that the people of DRC should be saved from all the war as they are suffering. 

"Children of God, let's put an end to this war, and save the lives of people we have seen today," he added. 

On his way to the camp of IDPs, near Goma Uhuru was confronted with tens of thousands of internally displaced persons on the roadsides.  innocent people.

While listening to the IDPs, he acknowledged that he had seen their suffering and hope the war will end soon. 

 "Eee, nimeona, nimeona,"  loosely translated to "Yes, I have seen, I have seen." 

“The EAC facilitator noted the misery, the cycle of conflict by armed groups, had inflicted on innocent men, women, children, and the old," a statement from Kenya’s consulate in DRC read.

On Wednesday, a second batch of Kenyan troops deployed to fight M23 rebels in DRC in a joint regional operation left the country. 

Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces General Robert Kibochi saw off the team at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

The team of about 903 is to be deployed to the region to help contain the fighting that has displaced many.
