Nine police officers accused of killing Baby Pendo in 2017 were Monday arraigned although they did not take plea.

Justice Daniel Ogembo deferred the plea-taking to November 21 after defence lawyers raised objections to their clients being charged.

The lawyers argued the courts jurisdiction had been challenged.

Some 12 officers including commanders face murder charges of the post-election violence deaths in Kisumu in 2017.

The police officers Titus Yoma, Titus Mutune, John Chengo, Linah Kogey, Benjamin Koima, Benjamin Lorema, volker Edambo, Cyprine Robi, Josphat Sensira, Mohammed Ali Guyo, Mohammed Baa and James Rono Kogey, Guyo and Baa were not present in court.

Justice Ogembo directed that they appear on November 21 for plea-taking.

He released the nine officers present on a personal bond of Sh200,000 on condition they will present themselves for plea- taking.
