Nairobi Woman representative Esther Passaris has expressed commitment to working with President William Ruto in delivering development to the people of the City.

Passaris who was among the chief campaigners of ODM leader Raila Odinga's presidential bid on Tuesday said it is time to work with the government of the day for the sake of the people.

"You were not my presidential candidate but you are now my President." Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has told President William Ruto.

She was speaking in Kibra Constituency where Ruto launched the Soweto East Zone B Social Housing Programme.

Passaris said that the leaders are on a mission to eradicate slums in the country.

"We are waiting for the bill of the housing fund in parliament, we want our citizens to live with dignity, we want to eliminate slums in this great country of Kenya," she said.

She said they are awaiting the funds so as to provide the citizens with dignified living and eliminate slums in Kenya.

"Your Excellency, I read in a paper that Nairobi is going to have a population of 10M by 2050. I feel we really need to guard our population," she added.

The Women Rep proceeded to say that no country would provide wealth to its citizens without knowledge of its population, thus a lot of effort is required to enhance the development of the nation.

Passaris also requested the President to look into women's needs, especially gender-based violence.

"Nairobi is going to have the first Sexual Gender-based house thanks to the Governor. We are ready to do the groundbreaking. We await on the CS," said Passaris.

To add, the county Woman Rep honoured Raila Amollo Odinga as the "Father of slum upgrading" and applauded Ruto for taking up the good project that was present.

Ruto was accompanied by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and other city leaders when he presided over the groundbreaking ceremony of the Soweto B affordable housing programme in the Kibra sub-county.

The president launched the construction of 4,054 units for slum dwellers in the Kibera Soweto B Social Housing Project.
