Bring hustlers fund to Parliament for MPs to manage - Jalang'o tells Ruto

Ruto said his government will set aside Sh50 billion annually.

Langata MP Phelix Odiwour, alias Jalang'o, has appealed to the President William Ruto to take the 'Hustler fund' to Parliament. 

Speaking during his maiden address, the legislator said that he would like the funds to be taken care of by the MPs since they know the hustlers better than anyone. 

"I'd like the hustler's fund to be given to members of this house, to take care of it, we campaigned with the hustlers, we know them better than anyone else," he said.

Already, thousands are benefiting from Uwezo Fund, Youth Enterprise and Development fund, the Women enterprise fund and the National Government Affirmative Action Fund.

Youth Enterprise and Development Fund CEO Benson Muthendi said they have not received a policy directive from the government over the proposed Hustler fund.

"We have not received a policy directive from the government over the proposed Hustlers fund and we hope we shall be given a chance to give our insight,” Muthendi said. 

Uwezo fund CEO Peter Langapiani said more people would benefit from the affirmative funds, improving their livelihood.

"Hustlers fund will help the government reach out to more youths, women and people living with disabilities."
