An IEBC official has been arrested by the police after he was found in possession of ballot papers at his home.
Webuye East sub-county returning officer, Emmanuel Onyango said the official was arrested after they received a tip-off from the residents of Maraka in Webuye, Bungoma county.
"The area police managed to arrest one of the returning officers, who was found having ballot papers at his residential home. We have arrested him and is in police custody," Onyango said.
The sub-county returning officer added that the other two poll officers are still on the run but police are still pursuing them.
While addressing the media, Onyango added that the papers were supposed to be at the polling station.
"It is against the constitution and unlawful to have any election material in your homes," he added.
Martin Wanyonyi Pepela, an aspirant, who is linked to the incident denied the claims.
Wanyonyi has assured his competitors to have no doubts about IEBC's credibility in delivering fair results.
Different political candidates from the area have raised concern over the IEBC's preparedness in ensuring free, fair and credible elections.
This comes after Kirinyaga county governor seat ballot papers were discovered in Mumias East sub-county, Kakamega county.
Area returning officer, Joseph Ayatta confirmed the incident.
Reports indicate that there was confusion in the distribution of the ballot papers.
