A post on social media purporting that Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has 'quit' the hustler movement is fake.

For the past two days, there have been rumours that Kuria has left Deputy President William Ruto’s team, and opted to focus on Chama Cha Kazi (CCK).

This was after Ruto held a Nation Parliamentary Group Meeting which was attended by the Hustler MPs at his Karen offices on Thursday.

Kuria, who is allied to the DP, missed the event, arousing speculations from Kenyans with some making conclusions that the Gatundu South legislator had shifted his allegiance.

One of Moses Kuria's parody account posted on Thursday that the meeting was of no interest to him.

“I have seen people asking why I didn’t attend the PG meeting. In the first place, was it necessary? My party is CCK not UDA,” the post read.

Many Kenyans fell victims of the fake news, even spreading it further by sharing to their followers in Facebook, Twitter among others.

Later in the evening through his official Facebook account, Kuria distanced himself from the fake account, terming it as nonsense news from rumourmongers.

“To the fake news society, use intelligence kidogo,” the MP posted.

His account has 694,043 followers, which can be used to easily differentiate from the parody ones.

During the meeting, the MPs said that there were apologies from some of their colleagues who did not attend the meeting, but assured the DP of their support.

Ruto used the meeting to popularize his bottom-up economic approach model, saying that the model has the power to turn millions of Kenyans at the base of the wealth pyramid into active and meaningful participants in the economy.
