A SENIOR ENGINEER  just about to retire from a parastatal in the James Macharia-headed Ministry of Transport is on an extortion spree, a little bird has whispered to Corridors. His targets are air strip contractors. Recently, he was overheard bragging that he has already amassed enough wealth from kickbacks but needs to make supper kills in his last two years to retire in style and venture into business. The investigating agencies  should focus their attention on the assets of such veteran public servants who feel that their last days in office are literally for making hay while the sun shines.

A MEMBER OF Parliament, who was silently pushing for disciplinary action against his main political rival, has been left with an egg on the face after it emerged that there is no more interest in disciplining the rival. The sponsoring party is slowing withdrawing from the hard position and instead making peace with the man. The lawmaker had publicly been bragging how it is just a matter of time before his nemesis is shown the door. He is now embarrassed and has not been seen in public for a while. A little bird whispered to Corridors that the lawmaker is cursing some forces for saving his rival. Moles claim that the aborted mission has a heavy political price for the MP as he has big 2022 ambitions.

A NYANZA COUNTY residents are shocked after senior officials recently confessed that a 200-bed isolation centre built at a referral facility in anticipation of mass Covid-19 infections is just a shell despite a huge equipment allocation. The centre, which should have been equipped with beds, scanners and test kits, is serving as a hall. Its construction was meant to be in line with the county’s objective of making available more than 300 beds for isolation purposes. That is now a pipe dream.

A KAKAMEGA MEMBER of County Assembly is giving area MP sleepless nights after she declared she will be in the parliamentary contest in 2022. A bird whispered to Corridors that the ward rep's rising popularity has sent shivers down the spine of the MP, now said to have assembled a team to devise the means of fighting back. The MCA has sponsored football tournaments, provided sanitary pads to schoolgirls, donated iron sheets to needy families and contributed to harambees and funerals across the constituency. The MP is said to be playing catch up in what seems to be a long shot.
