Good morning,

Kenya is still in mourning after Sunday's Ethiopian Airline's plane crash being the hardest hit with a loss of 32 lives. In total, 157 people were killed in the plane flying from Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi.

Auditor General seeks answers on Sh1.5bn Thwake Dam cash

Auditor General Edward Ouko has questioned the expenditure of Sh1.56 billion in the first phase of the Sh82.2 billion Thwake dam project in Makueni.

In a 2017-18 report on the multi-purpose water development programme, Ouko says the Irrigation PS was not involved even though he was the accounting officer responsible for the project.


MPs try to kick out Chebukati, others try to save him

MPs are scheming to save IEBC bosses after a report by the Public Accounts Committee recommended they vacate office over a Sh9 billion tenders mess.

The report generated heated debate on whether it should be debated or not. Those opposed faulted the PAC for usurping powers.

They opposed the recommendation to have the commissioners vacate office upon adoption of the report.

As investigators begin to pick through what little remains of Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 302, the names and the nationalities of those on board each tell a story of individual tragedy and loss.

Among the 157 dead were 19 United Nations staff, and other international delegates on their way to Nairobi for a major environment conference. A total of 32 Kenyans died.


Give reasons why you sacked me, Echesa tells Uhuru

Former Sports CS Rashid Echesa has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to give the reasons for his sacking, saying he has never been implicated in any scandal. He made the demand even as he blamed ODM chief Raila Odinga for his sacking.

Echesa said that his tough stance against privatisation of state-owned sugar factories and his support for DP William Ruto’s 2022 bid contributed to is removal from Cabinet.


Man's death sentence reduced to 20 years on appeal

A man who killed his wife and sentenced to death will now serve 20 years in jail on appeal. for a man who killed his wife in Eastleigh will now serve 20 years in jail.

The Court of Appeal substituted Michael Nderitu's murder charge with manslaughter.

Nderitu was convicted in December 2009 of stabbing his wife Anne Nyambura in the stomach with a knife over chang’aa.
