The Kenya Wildlife Services has announced that eight buffaloes were electrocuted near Wildlife Clubs of Kenya in Lake Nakuru National Park on Friday.

The KWS spokesman Paul Jinaro said the unfortunate incident occurred after the buffaloes got into contact with high-voltage power lines lying low on the ground.

“Kenya Power Company officials who responded to the distress call indicated that the electrocution was prompted by a broken wooden Cross Arms carrying 33 high voltage due to heavy rainfall in the area,” said Jinaro.

Jinaro said to deter similar occurrences, the Kenya Power Company undertook to replace the wooden Cross Arms with a metallic one.
