Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has announced that the government will launch a crackdown on land fraudsters.

Speaking on Friday in Kajiado, the Interior CS said those engaging in land fraud will not be spared.

The CS said suspects found culpable of land fraud will be punished painfully and severely.

"We have many issues around land fraud in Kajiado especially, Kitengela, Rongai area and Isinya and in other parts of the county," he said.

"We are going to crack down on land fraud and any person who is involved, whether a member of the public in a private space or a public officer in the space of government," Kindiki said.

The CS added that land fraud undermines the economy of the county and extends to the entire nation.

"The land frauds are frustrating people who are genuine land owners by issuing fraudulent title deeds, encroaching the property of other people and others who have encroached public land," he said.

"We are going to flush out all of them."

Kindiki said the government will not relent in evicting intruders to give back the lands to their rightful owners.

The CS added that the government will also go after people who are holding fraudulent title deeds.

He said the Kajiado County Security and Intelligence Team has been tasked with comprehensively tackling land fraud, illegal encroachment on private and public land as well as contraband trade and trafficking in persons and narcotic drugs through the official and illegal entry points.

Kindiki spoke on Saturday after concluding a county security review meeting with agency heads led by County Commissioner James Taari.

This comes at a time the Ministry of Land is planning to recover all grabbed public lands.

Land CS Alice Wahome on Monday urged those in possession of title deeds for public land to hand them over to the ministry.

“We will not tolerate or be patient with anybody who has grabbed public utility land. We are in an exercise to recover all grabbed public land,” she said.

She spoke in Nairobi West where she committed to resolve land disputes that have been going on for 12 years within three weeks.

Wahome said she will sort out double allocation of land title numbers between Almubarak and Civil Servants estates in Nairobi West.
