Patience Nyange appointed IGAD spokesperson after AMWIK exit

She left AMWIK in January, slightly over a year after her appointment in November 15, 2022

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has appointed Patience Nyange as its new Spokesperson.

Nyange will serve under the Office of the Executive Secretary of IGAD, Dr Workneh Gebeyehu.

The took up her new role in March 2024.

The authority, on Tuesday said it has tapped into Nyange's expertise in the field of communication to boost its voice across the world.

"We are thrilled to announce and welcome Nyange Patience to the #IGAD family effective March 2024. Patience Nyange joins our team as the Spokesperson, Office of the Executive Secretary, H.E. Dr Workneh Gebeyehu.

"With her many years of experience, expertise, and passion for effective communication, we are poised to elevate our voice and mission not only in the region but globally. Welcome aboard, we wish you all the best in your journey with us," IGAD said on X.

Before joining IGAD, Nyange worked as the Executive Director of the Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK).

Nyange left in January 2024, slightly over a year since her appointment to the AMWIK role on November 15, 2022.

According to her LinkedIn page, she has previously served as Board Member of the Media Council of Kenya, Assistant director at the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights and as Communication advisor at the Ministry of Devolution and Planning.

Nyange has also been an Associate Broadcast mentor with BBC Media Action, Journalist with the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK), as well as a presenter and producer at Baraka FM.
