The Homa Bay Pastor whose prayer was packed with vocabularies during President William Ruto's visit has spoken.

The prayer which left Ruto, Governors Anne Waiguru (Kirinyaga) and Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay) in stitches has since gone viral.

The Homa Bay County Principal Chaplain Raphael Obego said he was not prepared since somebody else was already picked to pray.

He said that he is glad his prayer caused joy to the leaders and Kenyans when it went viral.

"I was also surprised that my prayer became the talk of the town. The words I used are common and most people can easily understand them when spoken," he told NTV.

"I was not prepared for the opening prayer because somebody else was earmarked for that and so when I was finally called to do it I just stood and did it. "

Obego said that he has been a Bible Scholar since 1988 when he was ordained a Pastor.

"Some people were asking me where I get the bombastic vocabulary that I use, having done Theology for ten years, the vocabularies just come because I am used to mentioning it now and then," he said.

He said that he is not surprised with the vocabulary he used as it is simple and does not need explanation.

"My experience in studying the Bible has enabled me to master the words I use when I pray. I don’t read when I pray like other clerics do," Obego said.

Pastor Obego prayed during the Homa Bay International Investment Conference on Tuesday.

Pastor Obego kicked off his prayer in a conventional manner before infusing heavy English words that won the attention of the dignitaries present.

"King of Kings and Lord of Lords, he who dwells in the heavenly abode. Hallowed be thy name today and forever more," Obego began the prayer.

He went on:

"It has behoved you to spare our lives, thus bringing us this far. We are gathered here for this conglomeration. We want to commit His Excellency the President into your hands. As you bless him, I pray that you are going to bless this county, the county of endless potential," he continued.

Obego proceeded to attack the devil in his prayer using a more complex vocabulary leaving President Ruto, Governors Wanga and Waiguru visibly struggling to hold back their laughter.

"I pray for a moment that is going to result in a quantum leap. May you keep at bay every single jungle maneuvres that may be orchestrated by the devil to thwart your dealings regarding this particular conference," the pastor continued.

"For this is my sincere circumambulation for I supplicate, in the name of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit," he finished the prayer to a resounding Amen from the audience.
