Josphat Kirimi, 23, was hacked to death by the goons and his boss’ house, a Sh6.5 million Landcruiser Pick Up and a hardware were torched.

Businessman Moses Lichoro alleged that the attack was politically motivated following his allegiance to Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza.

“I have businesses in Tanzania and Somali and si I sympathise with what happened to him," he said.

"No one is above the law or can hold the police hostage. The police are independent and should provide security to every Kenyan."

Mwangaza’s economic adviser Gideon Kimathi alleged that the organised group is targeting Mwangaza'a supporters.

“I urge NCIC and DCI to look at the balkanization and criminals who think they are above the law. We also ask CS Kindiki, who we know loves Meru to crack the weep, especially DCI in Igembe to make sure they do their job without political influence," he said.

Kimathi demanded an immediate overhaul of the police force in Meru.

“It doesn't need rocket science to know who is after the destruction of the county,” he said.

Former Kangeta MCA Romano Mwito condemned the incident saying the gang had instructions to harm Lichoro.

“Why attack those who are supporting Governor Mwangaza? Linchoro was stoned in the morning and his 40-acre miraa plantation cut," he said.

Nominated MCA Fridah Naitole urged leaders to stop incitement and violence.

“Whoever who thinks Governor Kawira Mwangaza is leaving office soon should prepare for eight more years,” she said.
