Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has challenged police to make public the outcome of investigations relating to the murder of blogger and political activist Daniel Muthiani alias Snipper.

In a press conference on Friday, the governor blamed her rivals and claimed investigations into the murder are politically motivated and dared detectives handling the matter to prove otherwise by tabling evidence.

“When you came to my residence, you took CCTV footage and all the things you needed in your investigations. Up to date, why haven’t you told us what you found at the governor’s residence?” she posed.

The governor claimed it's been three weeks since her home was searched but police haven't said a word.

On January 6, homicide detectives sealed off Kawira’s official residence in Milimani Estate, Meru town in what she said were part of investigations into Snipper’s murder which has sucked in her brother.

Kawira said police were granted freewill to search all corners of the residence and it’s incumbent upon them to now make their findings public.

The governor said making the police findings public would serve to clear her family from being linked to the murder.

“I allowed you to even search my bedroom, the question is, what did you find? You marked the entire compound as a crime scene but you haven’t said what you found,” she said.

Snipper went missing on the night of December 2, 2023, and his body was found in a thicket on December 16.

Autopsy results indicated that he had been tortured before being strangled to death by his killers.

Government pathologist Johansen Oduor said he also had fractured ribs and showed injuries.

“Because you have concluded investigations, reveal what you found at the governor’s residence,” she reiterated.

“My phone was the first to be taken for forensic analysis following a court order, what did you find in it?

The Director of Public Prosecutions on Thursday said there is sufficient evidence to sustain a murder charge against key suspect Vincent Muriithi Kirimi alias Supuu and Murangiri Kenneth Guantai alias Tali.

“Is my brother the only person Supuu made a call to for you to want to charge him? The people giving you "political pressure" should give you the evidence,” the governor said.
