A bar owner was Wednesday charged at a Kibera court for allegedly assaulting a female client who ordered a drink before reportedly going outside the pub to receive a phone call.

Speraser Kinyua alias Judy was charged before Senior Principal Magistrate Margret  Murage but she denied the charges.

She is alleged to have thought that the complainant was looking for ways of running away without clearing her bills.

The court heard that the accused person committed the offence on November 24 in the Toi Market area in Kibera Sub-County within Nairobi County.

Diondonne Ngendakumana is said to have picked up some injuries from the alleged beating. She reported the matter to the police station leading to her arrest.

In court, the accused person pleaded for lenient bond terms.

The prosecution did not object to her release on bond and was released on Sh20,000 cash bail.

The matter will be mentioned on December 28 for Pre-trial and further directions.

She will also be served with all the witness statements and documentary evidence that the prosecution will rely on during the entire trial.
