The National Assembly's deputy minority leader Robert Mbui now says that the 13th Parliament is the worst he has served in.

The MP who is currently serving his third term said the current crop of legislators don't seem to understand their roles.

Mbui said that this is the reason most MPs from the Azimio coalition joined the Kenya Kwanza side after William Ruto was declared President.

"I have been in the National Assembly, this is my third term. In this particular parliament, members don't seem to know that they are supposed to be representing the people who elected them. That's why most MPs from the Azimio coalition moved to the government's side. This Parliament has failed," he said.

The MP added that the country's Executive has raided the National Assembly and made it dysfunctional.

He insisted that of the three Parliaments he has served in, this is by far the worst.

He noted that most injustice has been done to Kenyans in the current Parliament.

"Unfortunately, the executive has raided Parliament and neutered Parliament completely. It cannot function. I think this has been the worst Parliament. I have served three terms, this is the worst one," Mbui said during an interview on Citizen TV.

"I don't think we are doing justice to Kenyans. 2023 has been the worst year for Kenyans."

He was responding to a question on the performance of the National Assembly, and especially MPs from the opposition side.

Mbui said the current crop of MPs still think that Kenya works under a parliamentary system, which is not the case.

He reminded them that Kenya uses a presidential system and the idea of Opposition legislators working with Kenya Kwanza for development is a hoax because all allocations for development are done in the National Assembly.

Mbui defended the Azimio side of doing their job right but the current state of the National Assembly is that of "the Opposition having their say, but the majority party having their way".
