Tana River: GSU officers evacuated as flood waters submerge camp

Heavy rains continue to pound the Coastal region leading to displacement of people.

The National Police Service Officers from Wema GSU Camp in Tana Delta Sub County were successfully evacuated on Saturday with assistance from Kenya Coast Guard Services' boats.

This is after their camp was submerged by the ongoing flood situation which has greatly affected the Coastal Region.

The GSU Officers had navigated the rising waters to a higher ground.

"The National Police Service commends the GSU Officers, and indeed, all NPS Officers wherever they are serving our Country, for their true reflection of the resilience and great urge to serve our nation," NPS said

"The National Police Service reiterates its commitment to serve to protect and to the multi-agency spirit."
