MPs will on Wednesday meet the woman behind the contested Sh17 billion oil consignment as Parliament initiates probe into the matter.

Anne Njeri Njoroge will appear before the Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka-led National Assembly Committee on Energy to, amongst other things, clear the air on the ownership of the consignment.

The businesswoman, who is currently in hiding will also tell the lawmakers details of the consignment, the country of origin, as well as the intended destination.

According to communication from the committee to Njeri, the businesswoman is expected to furnish the MPs with relevant documents to back her claim of ownership.

Man in Senator Mungatana's fake currency case to be sentenced today

A Nairobi court will today sentence a man who was linked to defrauding Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana and found guilty of having fake currency notes valued at Sh960 million.

Milimani principal magistrate Benmark Ekhubi will sentence Abdoulaye Tamba Kouro as the prosecution is expected to produce his pre-sentence report.

Wednesday's power interruption to affect two counties

Kenya Power has issued a notice informing Kenyans of power interruption on Wednesday in select parts of two counties.

The affected counties are Nairobi and Kilifi.

In a statement, Kenya Power mentioned that there would be a scheduled outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

El-Nino -flood update

The death toll due to the ongoing El Nino rises to 71 as highlighted by Kenya Red Cross data.

Over 150,000 people have also been displaced due to the ongoing floods.
