A CRE teacher suspected of allegedly selling fake national examination papers was on Monday charged before a Milimani Magistrate's Court.
Nicholus Ngumbau Kalewa alias Mr Examiner was accused of commiting the offence on diverse dates between September 1, and October 25, 2023.
"Nicholus Ngumbau Kalewa aka Mr Examiner on diverse dates between September 1 and October 25, 2023 at unknown place within the republic of Kenya posed as Mr Examiner, knowingly published information through electronic application namely WhatsApp and telegram platforms that you were offering Kenya National Examination Papers leakage for the year 2023, a fact you knew to be false," a charge presented before the court reads.
Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi on Monday, the man however denied the charges against him.
He was released on a cash bail of Sh100,000 with an alternative bond of Sh200,000.
Kalewa was arrested on Friday following investigations by detectives attached to the Kenya National Examinations Council.
According to a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Kalewa had over 10 WhatsApp and Telegram accounts where he was allegedly selling the fake KCSE and KCPE papers.
"Mr Examiner had opened over 10 WhatsApp and Telegram accounts where he was hawking the fake examination papers at a partly Sh1,500 per paper and Sh2,000 for a complete examination paper with its marking scheme," DCI said.
The matter will be mentioned on November 13.
