A woman suspected to have killed Nairobi Hospital Finance Officer Eric Maigo is to be charged with murder today after DPP recommended murder charges against her.

Maigo was discovered with 25 stab wounds at his Woodley Estate residence which followed the arrest of the woman on September 26, at the Olympic area within Kibera.

A miscellaneous application was then filed by Corporal Patrick Boge.

The 0fficer told the court that on September 15, a report was made by one Amina Komara at Kibra police station that there was a commotion at house number 6 Woodley Estate Annex Upper of Kibra.

He said a team of police officers from Kilimani subcounty visited the crime scene and established that the deceased Eric Maigo,37, was lying with multiple stab wounds on the chest, face and neck and secured the scene.

"Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was in the company of the respondent herein before he was found murdered where she is suspected to have attacked the deceased while armed with kitchen knives," the court was told.

Boge said investigations indicate that the woman was among the group that orchestrated the violence which resulted in the death of the deceased.

The police officers who visited the crime scene did recover the murder weapons.

Sh60 million fraud case facing ex-Land Minister Amos Kimunya

An anti-corruption court will this morning mention the reinstated Sh60 million fraud case facing former Land Minister Amos Kimunya.

The then-trial Magistrate Felix Kombo had acquitted Kimunya, Lilian Wangiri Njenga and Junghae Wainaina, an official of Midlands Limited but this decision was overturned by the High Court following an appeal by the director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Kimunya will now have to defend himself over accusations of irregularly transferring 25 acres of land worth Sh60 million in Nyandarua to a private company when he was a minister in 2005.

This applies to his co-accused persons who are facing various graft-related charges.

The defense hearing is yet to commence.
